Welcome to Reids Family Martial Arts. Reid's is a family owned and operated martial arts school, dedicated to teaching self-defense and the values of the martial arts since 1965. Reid's offers personal attention and quality instruction in the style of Kenpo Karate. All classes are taught by Black Belt instructors through private and group classes.
ADULTS KENPO KARATE
Kenpo Karate is an excellent self defense system that combines a well rounded approach to martial arts training and is renowned for its many variations of defensive techniques. Primarily a striking system, Kenpo consists of hand strikes, blocks, kicks, self-defense applications and sparring. Kenpo Karate is a way to improve conditioning and is great source of fitness that is enjoyable, life enriching and can be maintained for many years.
Visitors are welcome and no experience is necessary. Reids instructors will help guide you step by step through your Martial Arts journey.
KARATE FOR KIDS
Reid's Family Martial Arts Junior Black Belt Kenpo Karate program is for ages 5 and older.
Our Junior program teaches students not only the values of the martial arts but also the values of life. From improved focus, goal setting, to self discipline and self respect, kids emerge from this program changed for the better. And their parents couldn't be happier.
MODERN ARNIS FILIPINO MARTIAL ARTS
Modern Arnis is a system of Filipino fighting martial arts founded by the late Grandmaster Remy Presas. The system includes the use of single and double rattan stick techniques, disarms, locks, and takedowns. Instructor Daren Reid is a Modern Arnis Black Belt and personally endorsed by the late Grandmaster Remy Presas.
ABOUT US
Founder of Reid's Martial Arts Grandmaster Larry Reid:
The late Grandmaster Larry Reid opened International Self Defense in 1965 and later Reids Martial Arts Supply in Sacramento California. Grandmaster Reid held the rank of 10th Degree Black Belt in the art of Kenpo Karate and was promoted to Black Belt by Grandmaster Al Tracy and Joe Lewis. He was a former hand-to-hand combat instructor for the U.S. Army and trained law enforcement agency officers including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Grandmaster Reid was also elected Chairman of the New York Citizens Committee on rape prevention, in which he was instrumental in pioneering several rape prevention programs for various New York school agencies.
Today Reid's Martial Arts is owned and operated by 10th Degree Black Belt Grandmaster Linda Reid and son 7th Degree Black Belt Daren Reid. They are carrying on a tradition of martial arts training that started over 50 years ago.
All classes are taught by qualified Black Belt Instructors who will guide you step by step through your training.
